Announcements: MATHCOUNTS will operate on a 2 hour delay Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010 Click here for the revised MATHCOUNTS schedule I have been following the weather reports closely all day. The decision to delay or postpone MATHCOUNTS is a difficult one, and I have attempted to balance safety concerns with a consideration for the many busy schedules that would be impacted by a postponement. The snow is expected to end around 2 am and warm weather during mid-day Saturday is expected to melt most of the accumulation. The highway patrol is not forecasting any serious travel conditions for main roadways. I realize that the 2-hour delay could interfere with other scheduled events, but the delay was judged to be a prudent safety precaution to avoid the need for travel in the early morning. It is not possible for me to predict the local conditions that individuals may encounter tomorrow. Coaches, teachers, parents and volunteers are cautioned to use their own judgment when deciding if they can safely travel to the MATHCOUNTS competition. Please do not travel if you deem conditions to be unsafe. COACHES: If you decide that it is unsafe to travel to the competition, contact Jim Hoeger at (336) 669-7358 to inquire about the possibility of alternate testing arrangements for the students. A reasonable effort will be made to give all students an alternate opportunity to complete the MATHCOUNTS tests and qualify to advance to the state competition.
